Traditions
Yesterday I had a call with David Lefebvre at Hawk Ridge Systems. He was decked out in a great outfit for Halloween and once we had covered our business, we were talking a bit about company traditions. At Hawk Ridge they go all out and have a constume contest and there are even department theme costumes. Since we started Base 10 this year, I’ve truly missed that cameraderie. He then mentioned something to me that had never really crossed my mind.
“The cool thing about starting your own company is that YOU can decide what kind of new traditions you can celebrate!”
This caught me off guard. You see, it’s really easy to get caught up in the day to day. The paperwork, the deadlines, the software updates and the like. What gets lost in all of that there is also a culture that is building. Culture is one of those things that isn’t tangible, but is hugely important. So starting today, we’re going to build on a culture of hard word, integrity and customer care. What better way to build on our amazing culture than to carve pumpkins! Happy Halloween everybody! What is your tradition?
